How to Wear Distressed Denim

Like it or not, distressed denim is a major trend for this year. At Girl Friday, we know it can be difficult figuring out how to wear new trends without looking like you're trying too hard. We've tried to bring in styles of denim that we think you'll be able to introduce into your wardrobe easily. None of our distressed jeans are too "over the top", and don't worry, the trend is continuing for a couple of seasons, so your new jeans won't be tomorrow's faux pas. In case you're wondering, we still have plenty of cleaner washes for anyone that's not ready or willing to embrace the trend... no judgements here!

Distressed denim can add instant street-style chic to any outfit—dressy or casual. But often, it’s hard to know what to wear with a ripped, shredded jean, without looking like you just rolled out of a ditch. We’ve taken a great option from Dish, the Caterina Messina ($98), and created two looks to inspire you.

Goin’ Casual

Spring is around the corner, and distressed jeans are perfect for a Saturday stroll down Queen Street. We’ve paired the funky Free People purple tank ($109) with simple rubber Flojo flip-flops (sale! $10). The bangles ($15-$18) add a bit of polish.

Dinner & Drinks

Distressed denim can keep an outfit from looking too dressy, and still let you turn heads on a dinner date. C’est Moi’s new Military Jacket ($86) is a fantastic choice when dressing up these jeans, and is on-trend with puffed shoulders and metal details.
